Millennium Expedition for
Young Australians

Nepal 30/11/00 - 16/01/01

In December 2000 and January 2001 we will be running a major overseas expedition for up to 80 young Australians (17-25) plus staff to a remote area in Nepal for a period of 7 weeks.

We expect to specifically recruit expeditioners from a wide range of diverse cultural backgrounds from within Australia, and use the expedition as a demonstration of the strength of our diversity and a valid celebration of the impending new Millennium.

Projects on the expedition will include scientific endeavours such as Blackbuck conservation studies, water ecology studies and invertebrate sampling. Community projects will include medical clinics and a field based eye cataract surgery clinic. Adventure Projects will include a range of trekking and climbing trips in the high mountains of the Himalaya.

The expedition is being supported by Duke of Edinburgh's Award and has as it's patron Senator Natasha Stott Despoja.
